You may have noticed the white boxes on the lights and utility poles with the DPD badge on them by now. The boxes are Dallas Police Surveillance Cameras that the Vickery Meadow Improvement District funded with private donations. The process began in January 2008 and was recently completed with the installation of five cameras in various locations in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood. The locations were selected by the Dallas Police Department that was deemed to be the best locations to address the crime in the area. The locations are Park Lane and Abrams, Skillman and Abrams, Park Lane and Ridgecrest, Park Lane and Shady Brook, and Shady Brook and Hemlock. The cameras are PT2’s with a 360 rotation. The signal from the cameras are sent to the Heights at the Shops at Park Lane and then to the southwest part of Dallas to the auto pound. From there, it goes to Lew Stewart and then to City Hall where all five cameras are monitored by the Dallas Police Department 24 hours 7 days a week. |
